1973: Young Spanish guest worker Iria and socialist student Hajo drive Iria’s terminally ill mother Maura from West Germany back to her home village in Galicia in a borrowed car. What begins as a hopeful road trip becomes a test of their relationship – across cultures and political systems, all the way into Franco’s Spain.
